The Ex est né dans un squatt en 1979 à Amsterdam. Depuis le groupe ne s’est jamais arrêté de tourner, multipliant les concerts autour du monde et les collaborations, du jazz à la musique éthiopienne, en passant par la poésie sonore (le guitariste Andy Moor tourne également avec le poète-performeur Anne-James Chaton).
Force du collectif, précision des musiciens, génie de la batteuse Katherina Bornefeld, magie des concerts, donnés le plus souvent dans de petites salles, parfois dans la rue… Autonomie du groupe, auto-produit, auto-géré.
